Ok, back again - been a while syne I wis at this...

Been that thrang wi this an that, ne'er got time tae sit doun tae ma blog. First, I'd like tae gree wi Bill Wilson an wir verra ain Iain Mcgregor about Scots labels on fuid... whit maks the Scots names for things wrang? Is "tatties" wrang an "potatoes" richt? Seems tae me they'r baith richt i their respeckitve leids.

Thon's a wider issue, the glaikit norrie fowk haud that Scots is incorrect... I jist dinna get it masel. For whit it's wurth, I think it wad be braw tae see Scots labels i supermerkets - but wi the caveat that fowk dinna try an think up embarrassin new wurds that naebody uisses for things like wasabi sauce (by the wey, can a body tell me whit Inglish for "wasabi" is?). In ma opeinion thon can dae mair hairm nor guid, specially whan we try an pit across that Scots is a livin language that fowk speaks. I've mair tae say about thon, but that'll hae tae byde till ma neist blog.

Oh, an re: Iain's "Shid wanes text in Scots?" - I micht no count as a wean onie mair, but I aften text in Scots, as dae monie o ma freins. It's jist anither wey o communicatin, an I howp monie fowk dae sae wi a guid Scots... thoum in their...haun... er, that disna ralley wark daes it? Ach, weil...
